Over the last six episodes, I’ve responded to questions from authors at very different stages.
One author felt like the book failed.
Another was overwhelmed by everything she thought she “should” be doing.
Another had multiple good options and couldn’t choose.
Another was fully booked and didn’t know how to grow sustainably.
Different situations. Different books.
But underneath all of them, I kept seeing the same pattern.
In this episode of After the Book, I step back from the individual questions and talk about what they all reveal about building a business from a book.
Most authors aren’t stuck because they lack information.
They’re stuck between clarity and action.
They want certainty before movement.
Permission before commitment.
A complete map before taking the first step.
But the truth is: you don’t learn your way into action.
You act your way into learning.
That’s the process.
Not building perfectly.
Not planning everything upfront.
Taking a small step.
Paying attention.
Learning.
Adjusting.
Over time, that’s how something real gets built.
